Video Speech Script:
“Hello, In this short video, I’d like to present a method for addressing a problem we encounter with progressive glasses. The glasses I’m currently wearing are progressive lenses with -4, – 4,5 diopters and a (+) 2.5 addition. While my vision for both distance and near objects is clear with these glasses, I struggle to see texts at computer distance, particularly when using desktop computers, and to see writings clearly.
Here’s the method we’ve considered: the glasses I’m wearing are magnetic clip-on glasses. These glasses are typically designed to be used with different filters, like this sunglasses filter you see here. However, we’ve attached (+) 0.75 spherical lenses (a value suitable for me) to the clip, and this has allowed me to see texts on the monitor more clearly. With regular progressive glasses, you need to slightly tilt your head back and look through the lower part of the lens to see the monitor clearly. This is tiring and not ergonomic.
But by attaching the (+) 0.75 clip-on lenses, you can comfortably use the computer with a straightforward gaze. This method economically provides an office glasses solution because the (+) 0.75 lenses we attach are monofocal spherical lenses, which are relatively inexpensive and available on the market. Office glasses typically compromise slightly on distance vision. In our application, we also have to sacrifice some distance vision, but I believe there’s no issue during intra-office use. They can be used throughout office hours; at the end of the workday, the clip can be removed and left in the office, carried around, or duplicated for use at home and work. I think this method can be used without problems, but further studies are needed. At this stage, our recommendation is not for general use. It could become available depending on the results of further studies. Thank you for watching.”

Appendix
It is essential to choose a frame where the clip can be easily attached and removed, where lenses can be fitted into the clip, and even a frame designed with a slightly thicker clip for efficient and safe use. The clip addition should be prescribed by an ophthalmologist after evaluation. While fully customized office glasses are an option, considering that near and keyboard vision are sufficient, we think our method is practical and applicable for individuals and countries with limited financial resources. Although we’ve been satisfied with our personal experiences, we await positive and comprehensive patient satisfaction studies for both monofocal and progressive lenses. I hope I’ve been clear, and thank you for watching.
